No, you do not need to wait until after delivery to start pelvic floor physical therapy. In fact, we can help support you even before conception and throughout your pregnancy. During pregnancy, our therapy can address breathing techniques, deep core engagement, exercise modifications, and body mechanics. We also provide strategies to manage common issues like low back, SI joint, and pubic symphysis pain, and offer guidance on activity adjustments and adaptive equipment. Additionally, we work with you on birth preferences, labor preparation stretches, perineal stretching, and breathing techniques for labor and delivery. Our goal is to help you prepare your body for a smoother pregnancy and childbirth experience with personalized care and expert guidance.

At your first pelvic floor physical therapy appointment, you can expect a one-on-one, one-hour session with your therapist. We’re here to listen, so you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns, goals, and any symptoms you're experiencing. Your therapist will perform a thorough full-body assessment to understand how different parts of your body are contributing to your pelvic floor concerns. If appropriate and with your consent, we may also perform an internal pelvic floor assessment to evaluate muscle function more closely. Our goal is to make sure you feel heard, understood, and confident in your treatment plan moving forward.

Pelvic floor dysfunction can contribute to hip pain, low back pain, SI joint pain, and tailbone pain.
If you have been experiencing pain in any of these areas, and have been unable to find relief, your pelvic floor may be the driver of your pain. Examining the pelvic floor will give us a full picture of what is behind your pain and may be the key to unlocking lasting relief.
“Working with her has completely changed my life. She is an excellent listener and conscientious health care provider who aims to understand what you're going through and then help you approach the problem at your own pace, with all the information you need.
I cannot recommend her highly enough for pelvic floor rehab, something that can be stressful and embarrassing, but she makes it comfortable and empowering! 100/10.”
